On 12 April 2016 Parliament hosted the first ever Care Home Reception, of which Alistair Burt was Guest of Honour. I expressed our disappointment that the event did not appear to have been publicised and both sides of the 'care story' had not been represented. Mr Burt's speech can be read HERE . I also expressed my frustration that the Minister had promoted Care Home Open Day in his speech, as I had voiced our concerns at our Dept of Health Meeting in January, when he seemed to agree with some of my points on this initiative. Read our views on Care Home Open Day HERE . He agreed that perhaps the involvement of CQC was questionable and this needed to be addressed. I was optimistic when I left the meeting that progress was being made to establish a group of organisations to represent social care and the Minister wanted Your Voice Matters to be a part of that. Since the meeting the Minister resigned. Your Voice Matters are grateful to Alistair Burt for being the first Minister in the Conservative Party to not only meet and listen to us, but to also include us in meetings to contribute with our views.
